Senior Civil Engineer – Land Development

A high-impact opportunity is available for an experienced and entrepreneurial Senior Civil Engineer with a deep background in residential and or commercial land development. This is a role for someone who thrives on big-picture thinking and execution—someone who can not only design great projects but also sell the vision to municipalities and communities.

This is as much about communication and leadership as it is about technical expertise. You'll play a key role in shaping neighborhoods, townships, businesses that will last for generations.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the design and delivery of complex land development projects, from initial planning to final engineering.
  • Present and advocate project designs to cities, towns, and local communities—especially in cases where there’s initial resistance.
  • Oversee and guide all aspects of site grading, landscape planning, and environmental integration.
  • Collaborate closely with builders, developers, and landowners to bring quality housing to market.
  • Manage internal resources and coordinate with external consultants (traffic, transportation, etc.).
  • Use Carlson Civil Suite (or AutoCAD-based platforms) to develop detailed site designs.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to a culture of excellence and pride in the work.

Who You Are:

  • Licensed PE with 7–10+ years of experience in civil engineering and residential and or commercial land development.
  • Strong technical knowledge of grading, environmental constraints, and infrastructure planning.
  • A well-spoken, personable communicator with the ability to lead presentations and gain public and municipal buy-in.
  • A creative problem solver who brings both technical rigor and visionary thinking to land use challenges.
  • Skilled in Carlson Civil Suite (or proficient in AutoCAD with the ability to learn quickly).
  • Experienced in managing consultants and navigating permitting processes.
