Are you a litigation support professional with a strong background in civil defense? We are a well-respected defense firm in San Francisco looking for a Litigation Secretary to join our team of dedicated legal professionals. This is a great opportunity to support attorneys handling complex litigation matters, including personal injury, product liability, employment, and insurance defense.
About the Role:
You will provide key administrative and litigation support to a group of attorneys managing high-volume defense cases. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, knowledge of court procedures, and the ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
• Draft, revise, and finalize pleadings, discovery, subpoenas, and correspondence
• E-file documents in California state and federal courts (including CM/ECF)
• Manage litigation calendars, schedule depositions, and monitor deadlines
• Prepare trial notebooks and assist with pre-trial logistics
• Communicate with clients, court staff, vendors, and insurance carriers
• Handle attorney time entry, expense tracking, and billing support
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of litigation secretary experience, ideally on the defense side
- Familiarity with California Code of Civil Procedure and local rules
- Excellent attention to detail, multitasking ability, and communication skills
- Strong command of MS Word, Outlook, and legal document management systems
- Prior experience with insurance carriers and defense billing guidelines is a plus
