Our client, a well-established law firm located in Buckhead, is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Staff Accountant to join their internal accounting team. This role is ideal for someone who values accuracy, confidentiality, and working in a professional services environment.
Staff Accountant Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy across all accounts
- Prepare journal entries and assist with monthly and year-end close processes
- Reconcile bank and trust accounts in accordance with legal accounting standards
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing
- Process payroll and ensure proper calculation and remittance of payroll taxes
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting
- Prepare internal financial reports and support external audit processes
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and legal trust accounting rules (including IOLTA)
- Collaborate with firm leadership and external accountants or auditors as needed
Staff Accountant Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience; law firm or professional services experience preferred
- Experience processing payroll and managing payroll tax compliance
- Familiarity with legal billing and accounting software (e.g., Clio, Timeslips, Tabs3) is a plus
- Strong understanding of GAAP and trust account regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general accounting software
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
