Our client, a well-established law firm located in Buckhead, is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Staff Accountant to join their internal accounting team. This role is ideal for someone who values accuracy, confidentiality, and working in a professional services environment.

Staff Accountant Responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy across all accounts
• Prepare journal entries and assist with monthly and year-end close processes
• Reconcile bank and trust accounts in accordance with legal accounting standards
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing
• Process payroll and ensure proper calculation and remittance of payroll taxes
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting
• Prepare internal financial reports and support external audit processes
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and legal trust accounting rules (including IOLTA)
• Collaborate with firm leadership and external accountants or auditors as needed

Staff Accountant Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience; law firm or professional services experience preferred
• Experience processing payroll and managing payroll tax compliance
• Familiarity with legal billing and accounting software (e.g., Clio, Timeslips, Tabs3) is a plus
• Strong understanding of GAAP and trust account regulations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general accounting software
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
