Director of Architecture – Job Overview
The Director of Architecture will lead complex projects from concept to completion, blending design expertise, team leadership, and client collaboration. This role is ideal for a licensed professional eager to shape innovative environments and foster a culture of excellence within a forward-thinking firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead architectural projects from initial design through construction
- Collaborate with clients to define and refine project goals
- Mentor junior staff and support professional development
- Ensure compliance with codes, zoning, and regulations
- Present designs, drawings, and specifications to stakeholders
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources
- Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and consultants
- Review and approve design and construction documents
- Conduct site visits and monitor quality and progress
- Resolve on-site issues and discrepancies
- Advocate for sustainable, eco-conscious design practices
- Stay informed on industry trends and innovations
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Architecture
- Licensed Architect (required)
- 7–10 years of experience in design and project leadership
- Experience in residential, multifamily, mixed-use, commercial, and municipal
- Proficiency in Revit, BIM, and architectural software
- Strong portfolio across multiple project types
- In-depth knowledge of building codes and sustainability
- Proven leadership and project management skills
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and detail orientation
