Our client is seeking a Software Engineer – Software-Defined Networking (SDN) to work on complex networking challenges, from integrating existing SDN solutions to architecting new systems. This is a fully remote role working with a global team. 

 

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in network software development or SDN-related projects.
  • Strong proficiency in C, C++, or Rust for developing high-performance, low-latency networking applications.
  • Deep understanding of networking protocols such as:VLAN, VXLAN, BGP, EVPN, MPLS, and IPsec.
  • Control plane and data plane separation in SDN architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with SDN technologies like:Open vSwitch (OVS), Snabb, ZeroTier, and SONiC.
  • Solid knowledge of Linux networking stack, including: iptables, nftables, netfilter, and kernel-level networking modules.
  • Familiarity with network performance tuning and high-speed packet processing techniques.
  • Strong background in network security protocols and best practices.
  • Experience with Go is plus.
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
  • Experience working with remote teams.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with DPDK (Data Plane Development Kit) for fast packet processing.
  • Familiarity with BGP EVPN for data center fabric and overlay network design.
  • Knowledge of cloud-native networking (CNI plugins, Kubernetes networking stack).
  • Exposure to hardware offloading technologies (e.g., SR-IOV, SmartNICs).
  • Understanding of distributed systems and scalable cloud architectures.
