We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with direct medium and/or low voltage experience to support customized product development and release detailed mechanical drawing packages to meet rising customer demand.
Electrical Design Engineer – Medium Voltage Responsibilities:
- Design and release mechanical approval and manufacturing drawings, including sheet metal fabrication details and Bill of Materials.
- Develop and customize sheet metal enclosures—welded, bolted, and hybrid—for electrical equipment according to ANSI/NEMA standards (indoor/outdoor).
- Prepare detailed equipment drawings including plan, elevation, side, cross-section views, and lifting diagrams.
- Generate component layout and arrangement drawings based on electrical BOMs.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, sales, and distribution to support customer-specific solutions.
- Participate in continuous improvement and quality initiatives company-wide.
- Provide technical input and support for quoting, proposals, and distributor inquiries.
Electrical Design Engineer – Medium Voltage Qualifications:
- Must have experience working with medium and/or low voltage electrical products.
- Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and 3+ years of related experience OR Associate's in Mechanical Engineering Technology with 3+ years of experience in sheet metal enclosure design and fabrication.
- Proficient in 3D CAD design, preferably AutoCAD (Inventor, SolidWorks, or equivalent also welcome).
- Demonstrated experience designing sheet metal enclosures for electrical components or controls (e.g., switchgear, UPS, panelboards, control cabinets).
- Knowledge of UL, ANSI/NEMA standards; experience with flat patterns, bend profiles, welded/bolted assemblies.
- Experience in customized product design and manufacturing, especially related to power distribution equipment.
- Bonus: Familiarity with utility standards like EUSERC, COMED, WE-Energies, or PSE&G.
- Relevant industry experience includes industrial equipment, robotics, control systems, or any product requiring custom sheet metal enclosures.
