Director of Convention Services Responsibilities:
- Review and approve all turnovers from the group sales department.
- Assign conferences, meetings, and events to team members to ensure seamless transitions and optimal revenue generation.
- Coordinate all aspects of VIP and citywide conferences as requested.
- Ensure associates prepare and send accurate group resumes with event details before the group arrives, aligning with the property's timeline for operational logistics and expectations.
- Lead engaging and strategic weekly resume meetings to review upcoming groups and events, proactively addressing potential challenges for seamless execution.
- Ensure adherence to established Convention Services departmental standards and continuously refine processes for efficiency and excellence.
- Establish and maintain the hotel’s position as the leader for corporate and social events within the market.
- Develop and execute an innovative strategic plan for the Convention Services department, aligning with hotel goals and market trends.
Director of Convention Services Qualifications:
- 5+ years of leadership experience in Convention Services at an upscale, high-volume hotel or resort.
- Skilled in managing complex programs with various stakeholders and priorities
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, business, or equivalent luxury hotel experience preferred.
- Strong leadership skills to build, train, and retain a high-performing team in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional contract negotiation, sales strategy, and client relationship-building abilities
- Highly developed customer service skills, operational acumen, and meticulous attention to detail
- Strong communication skills to influence all organizational levels.
- Expert in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with FDC or similar event management software preferred
