We seek a skilled Information System Security Engineer to support the Department of Defense information systems. In this role, you’ll join a dedicated team focused on maintaining the security posture of our critical systems. Your work will ensure cybersecurity standards are met through robust technical implementations, patch management, and risk mitigation strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement security functionality aligned with NIST SP 800-53A controls
- Apply DISA STIG configurations and ensure timely vulnerability patching
- Conduct manual and automated self-assessments to support RMF ATO processes
- Monitor system security performance and recommend improvements
- Propose mitigation strategies for identified security vulnerabilities
- Collaborate with development teams to assess and secure system infrastructure
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in Information Security or related IT fields
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity standards, risk management, and compliance
- Experience with system administration and security hardening (STIGs, policies)
- Proficiency with security tools and shell scripting
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills
- Experience with securing Kubernetes and containerized environments
- Familiarity with VMware (vSphere, vCenter, ESXi)
- Linux administration experience
- Understanding of container orchestration security best practices
- U.S. Citizenship is required. Must possess or be eligible to obtain a SECRET to TS/SCI clearance in accordance with contract specifications
