We are seeking an experienced general counsel to join our construction company. If you have extensive experience in the construction industry, specifically large-scale infrastructure, have a law degree, and have passed the California Bar exam, we would love to speak with you!

Responsibilities for the In-House General Counsel:
· Draft, review, and negotiate EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contracts, public-private partnership (PPP) agreements, design-build contracts, and joint venture agreements.
· Ensure all contracts comply with industry standards (e.g., FIDIC, AIA, NEC).
· Manage and negotiate subcontractor, supplier, and consultant agreements.
· Provide legal oversight into contract modifications, change orders, and claims management.
· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local construction laws (e.g., zoning laws, environmental regulations, labor laws).
· Monitor and advise on regulatory changes impacting large-scale infrastructure projects.
· Oversee licensing, permitting, and environmental compliance for projects.
· Handle contractual claims, construction defects, project delays, and payment disputes.
· Manage arbitration, mediation, and litigation processes, collaborating with external counsel as needed.
· Represent the company in claims against government agencies, subcontractors, and vendors.
· Ensure compliance with OSHA, labor laws, and workplace safety regulations.
· Advise on insurance requirements, bonding, and indemnity provisions for major projects.
· Act as a strategic advisor to executive leadership and project teams.
· Provide training and guidance to project managers, procurement, and finance teams on contract management best practices.
· Liaise with government entities, regulatory agencies, and industry associations on legal matters.
Qualifications & Skills for the In-House General Counsel:
· J.D. degree with active California bar membership.
· 5–10 years in construction law, infrastructure law, or a related legal field, preferably in-house for a construction firm or law firm specializing in large-scale commercial and infrastructure projects.
· Expertise in EPC, PPP, and design-build contracts.
· Strong understanding of construction claims, dispute resolution, and lien laws.
· Familiarity with public procurement laws and government contracts.
· Strong negotiation and risk assessment abilities.
· Ability to manage complex multi-stakeholder legal matters.
